Security Alert In West Belfast Ends

Police in West Belfast received a report of a suspicious object in the Suffolk Road area at approximately 11.50 pm on Sunday, 9 November.

Officers immediately attended the scene, initiating a public safety operation that required the closure of the Suffolk Road and surrounding routes.

Diversions were put in place in the Woodbourne Crescent, Derryveagh Drive, Stewartstown Road, and Derryveagh Mews areas. As a precaution, a number of local residents were evacuated from their homes overnight.

Ammunition Technical Officers (ATOs) were called to the scene to examine the object. Following their examination, the object was deemed to be nothing untoward.

All roads, including Suffolk Road, have since been reopened, and local residents have been permitted to return to their homes.

Suspicious Object Found In Co Antrim Declared A Hoax
A suspicious object found in Co Antrim has been declared a hoax. The Mill Road in Newtownabbey has been reopened. Elsewhere, a suspicious object discovered on the Lisburn Road in south Belfast was also declared a hoax. The road reopened at around 4.20am on Wednesday, 13 July. Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Number Of Roads Remain Closed Following Storm Ali
A number of roads remain closed across Northern Ireland following the damage caused by Storm Ali. The following roads are still closed, however the Department for Infrastructure (DfI) is working to clear the obstructions along with its multiagency partners.

Suspicious Object Found In North Belfast
A security alert is underway in north Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object. The object was found in the Antrim Road area on Monday, 06 November. The road has been closed in both directions at its junction with the New Lodge Road and Carlisle Circus. Police are currently at the scene and diversions have been put in place.
