Security Alert Ends in East Belfast, Viable Device Recovered

An overnight security alert in the Middlepath Street area of East Belfast has ended after Ammunition Technical Officers (ATO) removed a suspicious object reported on Sunday evening, 9 November, at approximately 7.15pm. The suspected device is being treated as viable and has been taken for forensic examination. No homes were evacuated, and follow-up searches conducted by the PSNI found nothing untoward. Police are appealing for information, quoting reference 1376 09/11/25.

Sinn Féin Condemns Education Minister’s Israeli Trip as 'Obscene Propaganda'

Sinn Féin MLA Declan Kearney has strongly condemned the Education Minister’s participation in an Israeli state-sponsored trip during a Motion of No Confidence debate. The South Antrim MLA described the trip as an "obscene propaganda stunt" and accused the Minister of ignoring "Israel’s sadistic depravity and genocide against the Palestinian people." Kearney asserted that the Minister can no longer command confidence, having acted as a "prop" for a rogue state.

DUP Calls for Increased PSNI Resourcing Following McCartney Report

DUP Policing Board Member Trevor Clarke MLA has stated that the Police Ombudsman’s findings into the Alexander McCartney case—which highlighted investigation delays due to "under-resourcing"—are "simply not acceptable." Clarke emphasised that the safety of children must be society's absolute priority and that the findings are "further evidence of the urgent need for an increase in police numbers." He concluded that public confidence can only be restored with clear evidence that criminal activity is being tackled effectively.

Police Officers Disciplined For Failing To Tell Doctor About Woman's Head Injuries
Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

Missing Boy Found 'Safe And Well'
A nine-year-old boy who went missing from Lurgan in Co Armagh has been found "safe and well". Connor Creaney was reported missing from the Shankill area on Thursday afternoon, 15 February. He was out playing with his friends and failed to return home. A search was launched and he was located on Friday morning, 16 February.

Concerns Raised Over Number Of Police In Operation At Woodburn Forest
Serious concerns have been raised at the number of police vehicles in operation during a protest over the ongoing drilling at Woodburn Forest near Carrickfergus. Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan said the police should be focusing on tackling crime in our communities.
