Two Police Vehicles Rammed In Separate Incidents

The PSNI has arrested two men following separate incidents in Belfast yesterday evening and overnight, where police vehicles were intentionally rammed.

West Belfast Incident

At approximately 11:20 pm yesterday, officers in West Belfast detected a vehicle driving suspiciously in the Falls Road area. The vehicle fled, leading police on a chase to St Mary's Gardens, where the suspect vehicle rammed the officers' car, causing substantial damage to its front and rear door panels.

The suspect vehicle was later successfully stopped using a Stinger device on the Grosvenor Road. The male driver was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including dangerous driving, driving with excess alcohol in breath, and aggravated taking and driving away. One officer sustained a minor injury, and the police vehicle was rendered undriveable. The suspect remains in custody.

In a separate incident in East Belfast, officers observed a vehicle breach a traffic signal on the Beersbridge Road, which then collided with the rear of the police vehicle near the junction with Bloomfield Avenue.

Following a short pursuit, the male driver was arrested on suspicion of several offences, including driving with excess alcohol in breath, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, resisting police, and assault on police. Three police officers sustained injuries, none of which are believed to be serious. The driver remains in custody.

Inspector Stewart condemned the actions, calling them "totally unacceptable" and "completely reckless," noting that members of the public could also have been injured. Police have appealed to anyone with information or relevant dashcam footage to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1635 of 13/11/25.
