Investigation Launches Following Robbery In North Belfast

The PSNI have issued an appeal for witnesses following a robbery in north Belfast.

The incident happened on Thursday, 21 November shortly before 4.30pm.

Detective Inspector Kitchen said: "It was reported that a man armed with a hammer entered commercial premises at on the Ardoyne Road and forced a member of staff to move away from one of the tills, before proceeding to take cash from it.

"It was reported that the suspect then attempted to use the hammer to damage and try to open the other tills without success, and continued to threaten staff whilst trying to take more cash.

"He then made a number of attempts to assault a customer with the hammer who tried to challenge him, and then made off with a till in the direction of Brompton Park.

"He was chased by shop staff and members of the public who managed to retrieve the till."

Detective Inspector Kitchen continued: "Our enquiries remain ongoing this morning, and we are appealing for anyone with any information which might help us to get in touch.”

"The number to call is 101, quoting reference number 1131 of 20/11/25."

Investigation Launched After Lead Stolen From School Roof
An investigation is underway after lead was stolen and a window smashed at Springfield Primary School sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning. It is understood that maintenance staff discovered that lead flashing had been stolen from parts of the roof.

Warning Issued Over Cash Machines
Police have warned the public to be aware of a possible scam involving bank machines. The warning comes after a skimming device to steal people's bank details was discovered on an ATM in Newcastle, Co Down, over the weekend. Skimming devices can be attached to the front of a cash machine.

Ballymena Bank Hit In 'Cops And Robbers' Sting
The hunt is on for a bogus cop who dressed as a PSNI officer to rob a Ballymena bank this week. The man, who was carrying a handgun, held up the bank on the Larne Road in Ballymena. An undisclosed sum in cash was stolen during the robbery which happened at around 1.00pm on Tuesday.

Man doused in petrol during Belfast robbery
The manager of a west Belfast off-licence has been doused with petrol, punched and beaten with a gun during an armed robbery. Two men, one armed with a handgun and another with a claw hammer entered the premises at the Springfield shop at 8:45 on Sunday morning. They ordered the manager behind the counter and demanded he open two safes and a till.
