New Cost-Of-Living Support Guide For Winter

As winter fast approaches, Belfast Lord Mayor Councillor Tracy Kelly has launched a dedicated guide aimed at supporting city residents who are grappling with high and rising living costs.

The third edition of the cost-of-living support guide aims to ensure vulnerable citizens are aware of all available assistance as they face the "extra financial pressures that Christmas brings."

The guide is a comprehensive resource that signposts to a wide range of community-based support services in Belfast, including:

• Benefits Advice and Grants: Information on financial assistance and welfare rights.

• Free Advice: Contact details for organisations assisting with high energy, food, and other costs.

• Health and Wellbeing: Services offering support for mental health, as well as specialist help for families and older people.

Councillor Kelly emphasised the council's commitment: "Our cost-of-living support guide aims to support the most vulnerable by making sure they know about all the help and support that is available to them. Within the guide there is also some practical tips to help people reduce their energy, food and other bills."

She highlighted the crucial financial support Belfast City Council provides, alongside the Department for Communities, to many of the listed advice service organisations and the 19 social supermarket projects the council funds.

The free guide is available to pick up at numerous locations across Belfast, including council buildings; community centres and leisure centres; libraries and chemists; and foodbanks, social supermarkets, and advice service providers

The information within the guide is also listed on Belfast City Council website at: www.belfastcity.gov.uk/costofliving
