NIFRS Honours 113 Employees For Decades of Service
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) held its Long Service and Good Conduct Awards ceremony on Thursday, 27 November 2025, at its new Learning & Development College (LDC) in Belfast. The event was held to honour 113 employees who have completed significant service milestones of 20, 30, or 40 years.
The awards were presented by the Lord Lieutenant of County Tyrone, Robert Scott, and attended by NIFRS Chief Fire & Rescue Officer, Aidan Jennings, and Chairperson of the NIFRS Board, Jay Colville. The recognition included employees in both operational and support roles.
The extensive list of awards presented included:
• 20-Year Service: 63 operational employees received long service medals, and 3 support employees received long service pins. • 30-Year Service: 38 operational employees received clasps and glasses, and 4 support employees received glasses.
• 40-Year Service: 5 operational employees received clasps.
Employees were also acknowledged with commendations for their actions, professionalism, and distinguished conduct.
NIFRS Chief Fire & Rescue Officer Aidan Jennings publicly thanked the recipients for their dedication: "Each colleague receiving their Long Service and Good Conduct Award has made a crucial contribution to our organisation and the essential service we provide to the community."
NIFRS Board Chairperson Jay Colville added his gratitude, stating the hard work was "truly remarkable" and a fitting tribute to their courage and commitment. He acknowledged that their roles "require them to go above and beyond for the people of Northern Ireland, often at the cost of personal sacrifice."
