Witness Appeal After Bangor Arson Attack
Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information after an arson attack in Bangor in the early hours of Sunday 4 January.
Detective Sergeant McCartan said: "We received a report at around 4.15am this morning of a car and a house on fire in the Ashbury Gardens area.
"Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, who extinguished both fires.
"It was reported that two masked men in dark clothing were seen dousing the car and house in accelerant and setting them on fire, as well as smashing windows, before making off. The car was completely burnt out, with damage caused to the front door of the property. "Two people were in the house at the time, however, thankfully, they were able to get out and no injuries were reported.
"This was a very serious incident, where a property was set on fire with a clear intent to endanger life. Our enquiries are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who saw anything or who has any information, including dash-cam, CCTV or other footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference number 234 of 04/01/26.
"Alternatively, you can submit a report online using the non-emergency reporting form via www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/ or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org/."
