The charges follow a police operation that began in the early hours of Thursday 15 January. Officers received a report from a member of the public regarding a suspicious vehicle in the Crossgar area. A short time later, a mobile patrol from the local District Support Team spotted the car on the Gall Bog Road in Kinallen.

Upon stopping the vehicle, officers discovered a substantial quantity of cannabis with an estimated street value exceeding £250,000. The two occupants were arrested at the scene and subsequently charged.

The PSNI emphasised the importance of community involvement in tackling local crime. A spokesperson stated that information provided by local residents is a vital component in disrupting drug dealing activity and removing illegal substances from the streets.

As per standard procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
