Police Ombudsman Appeals For Witnesses To Antrim Road Incident

The Police Ombudsman's Office has launched an investigation into an incident that allegedly occurred on the Antrim Road in Belfast on 10 January 2026.

Investigators are specifically interested in speaking with anyone who may have witnessed an interaction between a police officer and a man outside the Phoenix Bar. The incident is reported to have taken place between 3pm and 4pm.

In addition to witnesses of the interaction, the Ombudsman's Office is appealing for information regarding the movements or presence of a silver Skoda car in the area during that timeframe.

The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland is an independent body tasked with investigating complaints against the police to ensure accountability and maintain public confidence in the service.

The PSNI have asked West Midlands Police to investigate an alleged domestic incident at the home of Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson. It is understood that officers attended a "report of a domestic incident" at an address in Co Down on Saturday, September 23, at around 6.30pm.
