Red Bull Soapbox Race To Return To Belfast This Spring

The internationally celebrated Red Bull Soapbox Race is heading back to Belfast’s Stormont Estate on Sunday 17 May 2026, promising a high-octane blend of creativity, chaos and community competition.

The iconic event invites teams of amateur pilots to design, build and race their own hand-crafted, motor-less soapbox vehicles down a purpose-built course. Though the cars have no engines, imagination is essential — with teams judged not just on speed but also on creativity, design and sheer showmanship.

First held in Belgium in 2000, the Red Bull Soapbox Race has grown into a global series, staging events around the world and attracting thousands of spectators with its unique mix of ingenuity and humour.

Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just along for the laughs, Stormont’s Soapbox return looks set to be one of Belfast’s must-see spectacles of the spring.
