Appeal Following Fatal Two-Vehicle Collision in Hillsborough

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed that a man has died following a two-vehicle collision in Hillsborough on Thursday, 12 February.

The fatal incident, involving a car and a van, occurred on the Ballynahinch Road. Emergency services were alerted to the scene shortly after 7:15 am. Despite the arrival of officers and crews from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second man involved in the crash was transported to a hospital for medical treatment.

Inspector Dave Stewart, from the Collision Investigation Unit, stated: "Police received a report at around 7.15am this morning of a collision involving a van and a car on the Ballynahinch Road. Officers, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, attended. However, sadly, the man passed away at the scene. A second man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries."

In the aftermath of the collision, police established diversions at several key junctions along the Ballynahinch Road, specifically at Spirehill Road, Beatties Road, and Tullymore Road.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is currently underway. Authorities are appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision or who possesses dashcam or other digital footage to come forward.

"Our enquiries are continuing and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 187 of 12/02/26," Inspector Stewart added.

Victim Of Fatal Road Collision In Co Antrim Named
The victim of a fatal road crash in Crumlin, Co Antrim, has been named as Emmanuel Caddell, police have confirmed. Mr Caddell, 22, died following the two-vehicle collision involving a car and a lorry on Monday, 10 April. The incident happened on the Manse Road at around 10.50am.
