Two Charged Following Major Drugs And Cash Seizure In Carrickfergus
A 39-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court today, Tuesday 24 February, following a significant police operation that began in Carrickfergus.
The arrests occurred shortly after 2am on Monday 23 February, when a police patrol approached a parked car in a car park in the Marine Highway area. Following a conversation with the occupants, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a large sum of money.
In a subsequent follow-up search at a property in the Dunmurry area, detectives from the Organised Crime Branch recovered approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine, along with a variety of designer goods. The 39-year-old male has been charged with possession of a Class A controlled drug, possessing criminal property, possessing counterfeit currency, and possession of goods with intent to evade duty.
The 32-year-old female faces several charges, including possession of a Class A controlled drug with intent to supply, possessing criminal property, and possessing counterfeit currency.
Detective Inspector Kelly from the Organised Crime Branch commented: "This is a significant find and demonstrates the commitment of our officers to removing drugs from our streets and disrupting the activities of organised crime groups. I would like to thank the officers involved in the arrests and subsequent search for their excellent police work."
As per standard procedure, the Public Prosecution Service will review all charges. Police continue to encourage anyone with information regarding criminal activity or the supply of illegal drugs to contact them on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Four people have been charged with class A drugs offences following arrests made on Friday (30 August). Two men, aged 54 and 20, and a 42-year-old woman who are all from Liverpool, and a 35-year-old man from Antrim have been charged with the possession of Class A drugs and possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.
