Police Seize Drugs Worth Over £80,000 In Mid Ulster Day Of Action

Police in Mid Ulster have seized suspected Class A and B drugs with an estimated street value exceeding £80,000 during a proactive Day of Action.

The co-ordinated operation took place on Friday, 20 February, as part of a targeted effort to disrupt drug supply and organised criminal activity within the district.

The searches were led by the local District Support Team (DST), supported by officers from Neighbourhood and Local Policing Teams. Quantities of suspected cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis were recovered from multiple properties in both the Cookstown and Stewartstown areas.

Six people were arrested during the operation on suspicion of a range of drug-related offences. Police have stated that the Day of Action is intended to be the first of many such operations aimed at dismantling the criminal groups responsible for bringing illegal substances into local communities.

DST Sergeant Delaney commented on the significance of the seizures, noting that disrupting the supply of drugs is a top priority for Mid Ulster. He explained that illegal drug networks directly fund organised crime, drive local violence, and increase the exploitation of vulnerable people.

Sergeant Delaney said: "The positive outcomes from this Day of Action demonstrate that when we have the right information, we can take decisive action to protect our communities from the harms caused by drugs. We want to make our communities a hostile environment for those involved in the drugs trade and the message from this operation is clear: there is no safe place for you in Mid Ulster."

The PSNI is urging anyone with information about drug dealing or supply in their area to come forward. Reports can be made to local police by calling 101 or by submitting information through the online reporting portal at www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.

For those who wish to provide information anonymously, the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111. Police emphasised that public assistance is a critical component in identifying dealers and removing dangerous substances from the streets.
