Three Arrested in Local Council Fraud Investigation

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's CID have arrested three individuals as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected financial crime. The operation follows a report initially received in May 2024 regarding suspected fraud connected to a local council body.

On Wednesday, 4 March, a 39-year-old man was arrested in the Ballymoney area. He is being questioned on suspicion of multiple fraud offences, bribery, misconduct in public office, money laundering, and forgery. Additionally, a 39-year-old woman was arrested in Ballymoney on suspicion of converting criminal property.

In a related move, a 59-year-old man was arrested in the Waterside area of L'Derry. He was detained on suspicion of fraud by false representation, bribery, and money laundering offences.

As part of the active investigation, searches at several properties are currently being conducted. All three individuals remain in custody at this time as enquiries continue.
