firmus energy Announces 10% Price Cut for Ten Towns Customers

firmus energy has confirmed a 10.10% reduction in its regulated gas tariffs for domestic and small business customers within the Ten Towns gas network area. The price decrease is set to take effect from 01 April 2026.

The adjustment means that a typical household using a credit meter will see their annual gas bill fall by approximately £94. Customers utilising prepayment (PAYG) meters can expect their typical yearly costs to decrease by around £92.

This latest move follows a previous tariff reduction of 8.47% implemented by the supplier in October 2025. The change will benefit roughly 75,000 customers across the Ten Towns region. firmus energy has indicated that a further announcement regarding the Greater Belfast Network area will be released in the coming weeks.

Karen Smyth, Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability at the Consumer Council, welcomed the news but noted that market conditions remain complex.

She said: "We welcome this gas tariff decrease from firmus energy. However, energy prices are still well above pre-pandemic levels, and the energy market continues to remain volatile due to ongoing global geopolitical concerns.

"The Consumer Council works closely with the Utility Regulator and regulated supply companies to ensure that any cost savings are passed onto consumers quickly when wholesale energy prices begin to decrease. We also help protect and support consumers during energy price increases.

"We urge anyone who is struggling to pay their energy bills or top-up their meters to contact their supplier directly, as suppliers have indicated that they are keen to offer their customers help and support."
