£650,000 Road Improvement Scheme Announced for Fintona

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has confirmed that a £650,000 upgrade of the Ecclesville Road at Murley Mountain, Fintona, is now underway. The project is designed to improve a 2.2km section of the B122.

The comprehensive scheme will involve structural patching, carriageway resurfacing, and targeted drainage improvements. The works will span from the U1232 Corbally Road junction to the Ballyness Road junction.

Minister Kimmins stated: "This substantial investment of £650,000 in the Fintona to Fivemiletown route will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users. This demonstrates my commitment to investing in and improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To facilitate the works safely, a road closure will be in effect on Ecclesville Road between Aghafad Road and Ballyness Road. This closure will operate Monday to Friday, from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm, for a four-week period starting from the launch date.

During these hours, signed diversions will be in place via Ecclesville Road, Aghafad Road, Fintona Road, the A4 Ballagh Road, and the A4 Edfield Way (Fivemiletown), and vice versa.

While the Department has implemented traffic management plans to reduce disruption, road users are advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Local access, as well as Translink bus and school services, will be maintained throughout the period.

The project is expected to be substantially complete by Friday 3 April 2026, provided weather conditions remain favourable. Updates regarding any changes to the schedule will be provided by the Department as necessary.
