Appeal For Witnesses Following Serious Incident In Belfast City Centre

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in the Castle Place and Royal Avenue area of Belfast on the afternoon of Saturday, 14 March.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland attended Royal Avenue at approximately 4:40pm yesterday after receiving a request for assistance from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Upon arrival, emergency crews located an unconscious male who was receiving medical treatment from paramedics.

The man was subsequently transported to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

Detectives are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of their enquiries, officers are investigating a potential connection to an earlier report of an assault that took place in the Castle Place area at 4:30pm.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of Castle Place or Royal Avenue on Saturday afternoon and who may have witnessed anything is urged to come forward. Information can be provided to the police by calling 101, quoting the reference number 1024 14/03/26.

Marriage increase in Northern Ireland
Latest figures have revealed that there has been an increase in the number of marriages in Northern Ireland. The number for 2006 was just 8,300, a small increase on the 8,100 marriages registered in 2005, the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) said. Two People In Shock Following Armed Robbery In Belfast
Two people have been left in shock after an armed gang forced their way into their him in Belfast. The incident happened in the Meadow Place area shortly before 9pm on Monday, 05 February. One of the suspects was armed with a hammer. They searched the property and made off on foot. A man was taken to hospital to be treated for shock.

Investigation Launched After Threat Made By Armed Man In Belfast
Police have launched an investigation following a report of a threat made by an armed man at a shop in Belfast city centre. The incident occurred in the Fisherwick Place area at around 3.10pm on Wednesday, 05 April. The man is believed to be aged in his 20s and was armed with a knife. He looked in the till before fleeing the scene empty-handed.
