Appeal For Witnesses Following Serious Incident In Belfast City Centre
Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an incident in the Castle Place and Royal Avenue area of Belfast on the afternoon of Saturday, 14 March.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland attended Royal Avenue at approximately 4:40pm yesterday after receiving a request for assistance from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. Upon arrival, emergency crews located an unconscious male who was receiving medical treatment from paramedics. The man was subsequently transported to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
Detectives are currently working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. As part of their enquiries, officers are investigating a potential connection to an earlier report of an assault that took place in the Castle Place area at 4:30pm.
Anyone who was in the vicinity of Castle Place or Royal Avenue on Saturday afternoon and who may have witnessed anything is urged to come forward. Information can be provided to the police by calling 101, quoting the reference number 1024 14/03/26.
