Police Appeal After Aggravated Burglary In Newtownards

Detectives are appealing for information after an aggravated burglary in Newtownards on Thursday morning, 26 March.

Detective Sergeant Westbury said: "It was reported to police that a male had been assaulted in the Killard Heights area of the town.

"It is believed that at around 9am a number of masked suspects forced entry to the property and assaulted a male with hammers and bats.

"On police attendance, the property was observed to have damage to windows.

"The suspects have made off from the scene immediately after the assault.

"The victim is currently being treated in hospital for injuries to his arms and legs.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have relevant information about this, or specifically anyone who may have relevant video footage, CCTV, doorbell or other to get in contact with police on 101 quoting reference 311 26/03/26."

Police Appeal After 'Shot Fired' In North Belfast
Police have launched an investigation after reports of a shot being fired in north Belfast. No-one is believed to have been injured in the incident in the Farringdon Court area on Thursday. Police are keen to establish what happened and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

Police Cancel Appeal For Missing Omagh Man
Police have said they believe missing Omagh man, Shane Sharkey, has been found in the Republic of Ireland. A police appeal for help in finding the 35-year-old has been cancelled, with police saying they now believe they know where he is. No further details have been released but police thanked the public for their help.
