Economy Minister Reassures Public Over Fuel Supply

The Minister issued the reassurance after a small number of local filling stations reportedly experienced fuel shortages. Despite these reports, official monitoring indicates that the wider network remains stable and deliveries are proceeding as scheduled.

Dr Archibald emphasised that her department is maintaining active communication with oil and fuel depots across Northern Ireland to ensure the continued flow of supplies.

The Minister said: "My officials are in regular contact with the oil and fuel depots here, and I can confirm that fuel continues to be delivered as normal. We will continue to work closely with industry, other government departments, the Irish Government and British Government, and key supply-chain partners to monitor and maintain supply."

The Department for the Economy will continue to monitor the situation alongside key partners to prevent further local disruption.

With 50% of the cost of a litre of petrol or diesel going to the Treasury, the Government must take serious action to reduce fuel prices across the United Kingdom, DUP Treasury Spokesman Sammy Wilson has said. Mr Wilson said: "Fuel duty and VAT make up 50% of the cost of our fuel with green taxes attributing another 7%.
