Two Arrested And Drugs Seized Following Police Searches
Police searches conducted across Newtownstewart, Killen, and Castlederg on Wednesday, 8 April, have resulted in the seizure of suspected Class A and Class B controlled drugs. The operation, led by the Derg Neighbourhood Policing Team, also uncovered a quantity of cash, a suspected imitation firearm, and several electronic devices.
Two men were arrested on suspicion of drug-related offences during the operation. Both individuals have since been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
The searches involved a coordinated effort between various units, including the Tactical Support Group, city-based Neighbourhood teams, and the Dog Unit, featuring Police Dog Harry. Sergeant Harkin from the Derg Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We are working with colleagues, from across the Police Service, to disrupt crime, take drugs off our streets and keep people safe. We reassure you we will continue to proactively investigate and carry out searches linked to the drugs trade to identify those involved.
"However, we also rely upon information from the public whose support is crucial in helping us to tackle the scourge of drugs. With the help of the public, we can focus our efforts on identifying those who make their living by bringing drugs to our streets and neighbourhoods."
The PSNI is urging anyone with information regarding the sale or supply of drugs to come forward. Reports can be made by calling 101, or submitted online via the non-emergency reporting form at psni.police.uk/makeareport.
Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
