Lidl Begins Construction On First Public House At Dundonald Store

The 84 sqm development is being built in separate premises adjacent to the supermarket and will be accessed via its own entrance. Longstanding partner MMG Contracts is leading the build, which is currently supporting 15 construction jobs. Once operational, the new facility is expected to create eight permanent positions, bringing the total headcount at the Dundonald site to 27.

The 60 sqm public house will feature a seated capacity for up to 60 guests. Visitors will be able to sample a curated selection of beverages, including local craft beers and wines recommended by Lidl's Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield.

Lidl obtained planning permission for the venture in January 2025. With internal and external works now moving at pace, the public house and off-sales are anticipated to open in summer 2026, subject to final approvals and completion.

Further details regarding the official opening date and operational specifics are expected to be announced in the coming months.
