Man Dies In Ballymena Motorcycle Collision

A 60-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision in Ballymena on Monday, 13th April.

The victim has been named by the Police Service of Northern Ireland as Jim Wylie, a local man. The incident, which involved a car and a motorcycle, occurred in the area of the Crankill Road at the junction of the Tullygrawley Road.

Police were alerted to the collision at approximately 10.25am. Officers attended the scene alongside other emergency services, but Mr Wylie was sadly pronounced deceased. The road was closed for a period to allow for an investigation but has since been reopened to traffic.

Detective Inspector Stewart from the Police Service's Collision Investigation Unit said: "At approximately 10.25am, police received a report of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle in the Crankill Road area at the junction of Tullygrawley Road.

"Officers attended, together with colleagues from other emergency services, but sadly the motorcyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was 60-year-old Jim Wylie from the local area. The road was closed for a time, but has since fully reopened to road users.

"Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 376 13/04/26."
