Kimmins Announces Early Reopening Of A45 After £1.9m Creenagh Bridge Upgrade
Infrastructure Minister, Liz Kimmins, has announced the early reopening of the A45 Ballynakilly Road in Coalisland following completion of the Creenagh Bridge replacement and carriageway realignment scheme.
The £1.9 million project began in September 2025 and had been scheduled to finish in summer 2026, but the route will now reopen at 4.00 pm on 30 April 2026 thanks to careful planning by the Department and its contractor.
Minister Kimmins said: "The Bridge replacement and significant road realignment will improve safety for pedestrians and road users on the A45 Ballynakilly Road between Coalisland and the M1 Motorway. It will also assist with heavy goods vehicle movement and improve commercial connectivity in this area."
"This substantial investment also includes the construction of an Active Travel footway for 270metres over the scheme linking to the Ballynakilly Road, which will deliver significant benefits for residents and road users who travel through this area. These schemes demonstrate my commitment to improving our road and active travel networks which are vital for connecting our businesses and communities."
The Department thanked residents, local businesses and commuters for their patience while the works were carried out. The contract was awarded to Charles Brand Group Ltd on 1 June 2025.
