Sixteen-Year-Old Boy Killed in Nutts Corner Road Collision
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed the death of a 16-year-old boy following a road traffic collision on the Belfast Road, Nutts Corner. The incident, involving two vehicles, took place yesterday morning, Sunday 26 April.
Detective Inspector Stewart from the Collision Investigation Unit stated that police received a report of the crash, which involved a silver Volkswagen Passat and a black Volkswagen Golf, shortly before 8am. Emergency services attended the scene, where the 16-year-old male, a passenger in the Passat from the Tipperary area, was pronounced dead. The driver of the Passat suffered minor injuries, while two other passengers remain in hospital. Among them is a 10-year-old child who is currently in a critical condition.
The driver of the black Volkswagen Golf has been arrested on suspicion of various motoring offences. Following an initial investigation at the scene, the Belfast Road has been reopened to traffic.
Detective Inspector Stewart added: "Our enquiries are continuing, and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have digital footage which could assist with our investigation, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101, quoting reference number 348 of 26/04/26."
