NI Water has called on the public to be vigilant following a series of anti-social incidents at Woodburn Reservoir, including the use of quad bikes and scramblers, which the utility says risk safety and essential services.

Gary Presho, Supply Manager at NI Water, commented: "The use of scramblers and quad bikes is strictly forbidden, and we strongly encourage anyone engaging in this activity to stop immediately. While it might appear to be harmless entertainment, it actually poses significant risks. It is crucial for everyone to play their part in preventing this behaviour before it affects essential water services. "NI Water relies on users of the site to act responsibly and with consideration. Unfortunately, the actions of a few are detracting from the experience of the many who visit the Reservoir. Security patrols have been deployed in the area, and all instances of vandalism or anti-social conduct will be reported to the PSNI.

"Anti-social behaviour carries real dangers. There is potential for injury or disruption to vital services, which places unnecessary pressure on limited resources that could be better used elsewhere. Due to scrambler-related incidents, NI Water has already put in place restrictions on recreational events at the site, and should these behaviours persist, we may have to consider further security measures.

"We appreciate that people want to enjoy this beautiful location, especially during the summer, but we urge everyone to show respect for the environment and for fellow visitors. We are asking the local community to join us in addressing ongoing anti-social behaviour at Woodburn Reservoir.
