NI Water Completes £3.2m Nature-Based Wastewater Plant For Monea

NI Water has announced the completion of a £3.2m investment in a new Wastewater Treatment Works serving Monea, located outside Enniskillen. The project, which began construction in 2024 and took nearly two years to complete, is designed to support the village's long-term economic and environmental needs.

The upgraded facility utilizes a sustainable, nature-based approach to treatment. By employing aerated reed beds, the plant processes wastewater to a high standard, ensuring the protection of local biodiversity and water systems.

Martin Armstrong, NI Water Project Manager, said: "NI Water is delighted to complete this new natured based wastewater solution for Monea village, which will support future growth and development in the area, as well as providing key environmental benefits such as enhancing the river water quality in the Monea River and Lower Lough Erne.
