NIFRS Launches 12-Week Consultation On Equality And Disability

Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has opened a 12-week public consultation to inform its new Equality Action Plan and Disability Action Plan for 2026–30.

The plans will outline how NIFRS will promote fairness, remove barriers and ensure everyone can access its services, regardless of background or circumstances, so people feel represented and have equal opportunities.

NIFRS is seeking feedback from the public, particularly from those with lived experience of inequalities or disability, as well as from people who support or advocate on their behalf.

Through the consultation, NIFRS is inviting views on:

- Experiences of accessing the Fire & Rescue Service and any barriers encountered

- Ways to enhance inclusion, accessibility and fairness

- The effectiveness of the proposed Action Plans

- Data or evidence that could better inform the plans to ensure proposals positively impact equality of opportunity, good relations and human rights
