Police Ombudsman Launches Investigation into Cookstown Incident
The Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland has launched an investigation into an incident involving a police vehicle that occurred in Cookstown on Tuesday 5 May 2026.
The incident took place around 1:45pm near the junction where Killymoon Street meets Killymoon Road. Ombudsman investigators are appealing for anyone who witnessed the event, or anyone who may possess mobile phone or dashcam footage of what occurred, to come forward.
Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the investigation team by calling 0800 032 7880.

The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

The PSNI have asked West Midlands Police to investigate an alleged domestic incident at the home of Police Ombudsman Marie Anderson. It is understood that officers attended a "report of a domestic incident" at an address in Co Down on Saturday, September 23, at around 6.30pm.

Man Dies After Falling From Police Van
A man has died after falling from the back of a moving police van, in Maghera last Friday. The 21-year-old was in police custody when the incident happened on the Church Road in Derry. A PSNI spokesman confirmed the man had died while the vehicle was still in motion.
