Belfast City Council Announces Fleadh Information Sessions
Belfast City Council is inviting city centre businesses, suppliers, and services to attend upcoming information sessions regarding Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which takes place from 2 to 9 August 2026. The online meetings will outline road closures in Belfast city centre, explain the operational impact on various industries, and provide guidance on maintaining smooth business operations throughout the festival week.
The sessions will focus on updates to the road closure plan and the Accreditation and Logistics Hub. Organisers will also answer sector-specific questions and outline the next steps required for business readiness.
A series of targeted webinars will be held online across 15 and 16 June 2026. Attendees are asked to join the specific session relevant to their business type.
Before attending, operators must register their details using the appropriate online form if they have not previously done so. The submitted details will be used to allocate vehicle access passes and delivery time slots, helping to minimise disruption. The schedule for the upcoming online sessions is as follows:
15th June
• 1:30–2:30pm: City Centre Licensed Businesses (e.g. hotels, bars, restaurants)
• 2:30–3:30pm: City Centre Businesses (NOT Food and Drink) e.g. offices, retailers
• 3:30–4:30pm: City Centre Suppliers (NOT food and drink)
• 4:30–5:30pm: City Centre Suppliers (food and drink)
16th June
• 12–1pm: City Centre Pharmacies, Pharmacy Suppliers, Medical Centres & Services, Healthcare Teams
• 1–2pm: City Centre Cash Handlers and Banks
• 3–4pm: City Centre Private Waste Handlers
An RSVP is not required to attend these sessions, though the completion of the relevant registration form is essential. Belfast City Council welcomes all participants and requests that anyone requiring specific access arrangements or adjustments to support their attendance gets in touch. Primark Donates £500,000 To Support Businesses Affected By Fire
Retailer Primark is donating £500,000 to Belfast City Council's City Recovery Investment Fund. The fund is being set up after a number of businesses have been severely affected by the fire at the Bank Buildings which happened over three weeks ago. A cordon remains in place and 14 firms have been closed for up to four months.

The Chairman of Belfast City Council’s Good Relations Steering Panel has challenged claims that the Council is not supporting St Patrick’s Day in Belfast. It follows a protest outside Belfast City Hall last week by the St Patrick's Carnival Committee who claim the Council isn't funding this year's event at the City Hall.

Businesses Affected By Primark Building Cordon Removed From Rates Liability
Seventeen businesses affected by the Primark building fire have been removed from all business rates liability while the Bank Building has been removed from the Valuation List. Northern Ireland Civil Service departments are continuing to work with Belfast City Council and other agencies in response to the fire at Belfast's Bank Buildings.
