Body Discovered on Kilkeel Beach
Police received a report regarding the discovery of a body on the beach in the Moor Road area of Kilkeel just before 6.15am on Thursday, 21 May.
Officers attended the scene alongside personnel from other emergency services. The body, believed to be that of a man aged in his 40s, has now been recovered and removed from the area.
A formal identification process and a post-mortem examination are scheduled to be carried out in due course. Following initial enquiries conducted by officers this morning, the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time. The Health and Safety Executive has been notified of the incident.

Belfast Man Drowns In Bulgaria
A man from Belfast has drowned on holiday in Bulgaria. The victim, named as James Kelly, 25, was originally from the Shankill Road area of the city. It is understood the father-of-one was on holiday with his partner at the Sunny Beach resort on the Black Sea when he died on Wednesday (25 June).

Family escape injury in shooting
A family have escaped injury after a number of shots were fired at their home in Co Down early this morning. Two shotgun blasts were fired at the house in Stream Park, Kilkeel, smashing through the living room window, at about 2.30am. A man, a woman and an infant were in another part of the house when the shooting occurred.

Firefighters tackle Mourne Mountains blaze
Nearly 40 firefighters were involved in tackling a blaze that engulfed a large section of the Mourne Mountains last night. The fire, which encompassed a large ridge of grassland, could be seen for several miles. Crews from Newcastle, Kilkeel, Rathfriland and Warrenpoint were called to deal with the blaze.

Human Remains Found In Co Antrim
Human remains have been discovered in a field in Co Antrim, according to the police. The remains were found in the Bravallan Road area in Ballymoney today, 14 April. Tests are to be carried out to establish formal identification however the death is not being treated as suspicious, the PSNI have confirmed. No other information has been released.

Three police officers have been injured after coming under attack while trying to assist a taxi passenger over the weekend in Magherafelt. The incident occurred on Rainey Street in the early hours of Sunday morning, 12 May, when a taxi driver flagged down a police vehicle for help dealing with a drunk passenger.
