£220,000 Cromac Street Resurfacing Scheme Underway

Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins has announced that a £220,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme for Cromac Street in Belfast will commence today, Monday 8 June 2026.

The resurfacing project will span from Ormeau Avenue to the junction with Hamilton Street.

Minister Kimmins said: "This substantial investment of £220,000 for Belfast City Centre will deliver significant benefits for road users and visitors and demonstrates my commitment to improving our road network, which is vital for connecting our businesses and communities. I would like to thank all road users for their patience while this essential infrastructure work is carried out."

To facilitate the engineering works, daily lane closures will be implemented between 9.30am and 3.30pm from Monday 8 June until Friday 12 June 2026.

Following this, a series of full road closures will take place. This will begin with a closure from 7.00pm on Sunday 14 June until 6.00am on Monday 15 June. Subsequently, overnight road closures will be enacted from Monday 15 June until Thursday 18 June 2026, between the hours of 8.00pm and 6.00am.

Additional off-peak lane closures and night-time closures may also be required between 18 June and 26 June to finalise the works.

Clearly signed diversionary routes will be operational during all periods of full closure.

The Department for Infrastructure has scheduled the operations and traffic management systems to minimise disruption for drivers. While provisions have been made to maintain local access, road users are being warned to anticipate delays and should allow extra travel time when moving through the area. Members of the public are also requested to adhere to all temporary traffic restrictions.

Provided weather conditions remain favourable, the resurfacing scheme is expected to be fully completed by 26 June 2026. The Department will provide updates to the public should any changes to the schedule arise.
