Galgorm Collection Unveils Next Stage Of £20m Roe Valley Resort Overhaul

Galgorm Collection has announced the next phase of its £20 million refurbishment of Roe Valley Resort in Limavady, with a slate of new attractions and amenities due to open this summer at the North West destination.

The group purchased Roe Valley Resort in November 2024 as part of a £50 million deal that also included Galgorm Castle Estate, alongside a wider multi-million-pound programme to upgrade both sites over the coming years.

Building on works already delivered — including a Helter Skelter, an adventure playground, an arcade and the Fratelli Italian restaurant — the company is rolling out fresh accommodation, leisure and family-focused experiences across the estate.

Headline among the launches is Mussenden Lodge, a £1 million, four-bedroom standalone property located around seven miles from Roe Valley Resort. Overlooking Lough Foyle and Binevenagh, it sleeps up to eight guests and offers a private retreat option with an outdoor hot tub and complimentary access to the resort's swimming pool.

Additional family and leisure features debut this summer, beginning with new pool slides on 12 June. A dedicated two-storey soft play area and The Leaping Hound — a bar and dining venue inspired by the 'Dog's Leap' folklore linked to Limavady, with live weekend entertainment — will both open on 03 July, creating a lively social hub for guests, locals and visitors.

The programme continues into the coming years. An upgraded lobby and reception are scheduled for completion by Christmas 2026, followed by a new indoor and outdoor adult spa experience in spring 2027. In 2028, Galgorm plans to add new conference and event facilities to further broaden Roe Valley Resort's appeal to both leisure and corporate markets.

Colin Johnston, Chief Executive Officer, Galgorm Collection, said: "Since acquiring Roe Valley Resort, we have been focused on delivering a thoughtful and ambitious transformation that builds on the property's strong foundations while introducing new experiences for both existing and new audiences.

"We have been delighted with the feedback from guests to date and are pleased to have welcomed visitors from across the island of Ireland, Great Britain and further afield.

"This latest phase of investment reflects our continued commitment not only to Roe Valley Resort, but to the wider North West region as a whole. We see enormous potential in this part of Northern Ireland, from its natural beauty and heritage to its growing reputation as a world-class tourism and golfing destination, and we are proud to play a role in helping to elevate that offering."

Together, these additions represent a major milestone in Galgorm Collection's strategy to position Roe Valley Resort among Northern Ireland's top hospitality destinations.

The transformation also sits within the group's broader North West investment plans, which include a proposed championship links golf course at Bellarena to enhance the region's internationally recognised golf credentials and its growing golf tourism market.

Laura McCorry, Chief Executive of Tourism NI, said: "Tourism Northern Ireland remains committed to supporting the continued growth of tourism across the North West, which continues to attract visitors through its outstanding natural landscapes, heritage experiences, and world class golf offering.

"It is extremely encouraging to see continued investment from Galgorm Collection as a major hospitality investor in the region.

"Alongside the international spotlight brought by events such as The Open Championship, Northern Ireland continues to build its reputation as a premium leisure and golf destination, and investments of this scale play an important role in supporting that ambition."

As work progresses, Roe Valley Resort is becoming a central pillar in Galgorm Collection's expansion plans, reinforcing Northern Ireland's status as a must-visit destination for travellers from home and abroad.
