Charges Brought Following Disorder In Belfast And Portadown
A 42-year-old man has been charged with riot, attempted criminal damage, and assault on a police designated person. The charges are connected to public disorder that took place across Belfast on Tuesday 9 June.
In response to the incidents, a Public Order Enquiry Team has been established. Investigators are currently reviewing all online and video footage, with additional arrests and charges expected to follow. Separately, two individuals have been charged following disorder in Portadown on Wednesday night, 10 June. A 28-year-old man faces charges of failing to remove a disguise when requested, obstructing police, and resisting police. Alongside him, a 24-year-old woman has been charged with disorderly behaviour and possession of an article with intent to do damage. Both individuals are due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates Court this morning, Thursday 11 June.
In accordance with standard legal procedures, all charges across both cases will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service (PPS).
