Belfast Parades And Ormeau Park Concert To Bring Road Closures On Wednesday, 1 July

Road users are advised that several parades are scheduled to take place in Belfast today, Wednesday, 1 July.

A large parade is due to set off from Templemore Avenue at approximately 6:15pm and is expected to conclude by around 11pm. In East Belfast, the main routes likely to be affected include Templemore Avenue, Albertbridge Road, Ravenhill Road, Castlereagh Road, Beersbridge Road, Bloomfield Road, North Road, Upper Newtownards Road, Belmont Road, Holywood Road and Newtownards Road, with smaller nearby streets also impacted. A substantial turnout of participants and spectators is anticipated, with road closures and diversions in place and traffic disruption expected.

Another parade is scheduled to begin in the Shankill Road area at 6pm, with a further parade due to start in the Clifton Street area at approximately 7:30pm. The principal roads affected are Shankill Road, Peters Hill, North Street, Carlisle Circus, Clifton Street, Donegall Road, Royal Avenue, Donegall Place and Donegall Square North, alongside minor streets in the vicinity. These parades are expected to finish by around 9:30pm.

A separate parade is also planned for the Sandy Row area, starting at approximately 7:30pm and expected to finish by 8:30pm.

Motorists should note a concert at Ormeau Park. Ormeau Embankment will be closed from its junction with Ravenhill Road to Ormeau Road between 6pm and midnight. Those travelling by car should allow extra time, and be aware the area will be particularly busy with pedestrians and vehicles from around 11pm.

Road closures and diversions will be implemented for all parades, and traffic disruption is likely. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and allow additional time for their journeys.

Appeal For Witnesses After Newtownbutler Burglary
