Lough Erne Resort Leads Northern Ireland In Golf World’s New European Luxe List
Fermanagh's Lough Erne Resort has been named Northern Ireland's highest-placed venue in Golf World's inaugural Top 100 Luxe Resorts Europe, debuting at 33rd.
The accolade strengthens the resort's standing among Europe's leading golf destinations, where elite golf is paired with exceptional hospitality, accommodation and overall guest experience across Continental Europe, Great Britain and Ireland.
It follows recognition earlier this year when Lough Erne rose 11 spots to 65th in Golf World's Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World.
The first Luxe ranking, compiled by Golf World's Top 100 Courses and Resorts team with an expert judging panel, evaluated venues on four pillars: golf courses, accommodation, amenities and setting, highlighting places that deliver luxury on and off the course.
Set amid the Fermanagh Lakelands, the resort features two championship courses. The acclaimed Faldo Course, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, was recently listed among Golf World's Top 10 Parkland Courses in Great Britain and Ireland, while the Castle Hume Course has staged 10 Ulster PGA Championships and remains a favourite with golfers of all abilities.

Lough Erne Golf Resort Put On The Market
The Lough Erne golf resort in Fermanagh has been up for sale at a price of £10m available immediately, administrators have said. The five-star facility opened in 2007 but failed to attract enough business and went into administration in May 2011. At one stage, it was valued around £30m.

A crew from a German TV channel VOX TV was filming in one of Northern Ireland's most picturesque areas during September. They followed a German family, Martin and Barbara Baumann and their children, as they were arriving by seaplane at Lough Erne Golf Resort and enjoying a three-day break in Fermanagh.

Lough Erne Resort has solidified its reputation as a premier international destination after surging 11 spots to claim 65th place in the latest Golf World Top 100 Golf Resorts in the world ranking. The Fermanagh-based resort is one of only five Irish destinations to make the prestigious list, which is curated by an international panel of experts.

One of Northern Ireland's top tourist attractions, Co Fermanagh's Lough Erne Resort, has experienced some 50% year on year growth. The first such international AA 5 star hotel in NI, it has moved from a turnover of £3.9m in 2008 to £5.8m in 2009 with a projected turnover of £8.5m this year.
