Seaview Primary School has opened a new outdoor sensory walk and garden, created with support from Belfast City Airport's Community Fund.

The project has converted part of the school’s grounds into a calm, inclusive area designed to enhance pupils’ wellbeing, particularly supporting children with Autism and additional sensory needs. The space aims to promote emotional regulation, confidence and learning outside the classroom.

Aileen O'Kane, Head of People and Purpose at Belfast City Airport, said: "At Belfast City Airport, we are committed to having a meaningful and tangible impact in our local community.

"Our Community Fund creates lasting, positive change, and Seaview Primary School’s new sensory space is a fantastic example of this in action. By investing in an environment that supports inclusion, wellbeing, and learning, we’re helping ensure that every pupil can thrive." Since its launch in 2009, the Community Fund has contributed more than £771,000 to 261 local projects across Greater Belfast and North Down.

Mrs Latham, Principal at Seaview Primary School, added: "We've been working with Belfast City Airport for a number of years, and it has been a great partner for the school.

"This sensory walk and garden have quickly become a valuable resource for our pupils, offering a peaceful and stimulating environment that supports both learning and wellbeing.

"For many of our children, access to a dedicated sensory space makes a real difference. It gives them a place to regulate, explore, and engage with the world in a way that suits their individual needs.

"This funding has increased so much of what we provide in our school, and we're delighted to partner with such a caring organisation that wants to impact, not just our school community, but the community across Northern Ireland."
