Detectives have launched an investigation following a serious assault on Drumadoon Drive in Dundonald on the evening of Saturday 18th July.

The incident occurred shortly before 10pm as a man in his 20s was walking along the street. He was set upon by two males, one of whom was reportedly armed with a metal bar or a similar item. The victim sustained a broken arm and severe head wounds during the assault, requiring treatment in hospital. Following the arrival of officers at the scene, two individuals were arrested. A 34-year-old man was detained on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, while a 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent alongside possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. Both suspects are currently being held in police custody.

Investigating detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash-cam or CCTV footage of the area to come forward.
