Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the impact of the Peaceplus Youth 'Journeys' Project in the north-west, highlighting how it is helping participants progress in education, training and work.

More than 1,000 young people aged 14–24 have taken part in the North–South Journeys programme since its September 2024 launch, with over 500 having completed the scheme. During a visit to Roe Valley Residents Association's Youth and Community Hub in Limavady to see the project first-hand, Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald said: "At its mid-point, it is encouraging to see the meaningful progress being made, with skilled staff working closely with young people to address individual needs and support them on their journey towards further education and employment.

"As I have seen today, programmes like Journeys are making a real difference on the ground — helping young people gain recognised qualifications, develop key employability skills and contribute positively within their communities."

The Minister also heard directly from participants about re-engaging with learning, building confidence and making positive life choices.

The Journeys Project, delivered by Springboard, is one of six delivery projects under the Peaceplus Youth Programme. The Department for the Economy is the lead department for the programme, which is managed by the SEUPB. It is a key North–South funded initiative supporting disadvantaged young people through targeted interventions focused on inclusion and skills development.
