Gig-goers chasing last-minute tickets are being urged to stick to verified resale platforms as Bank of Ireland warns of a rise in purchase scams targeting major summer events.

The bank's alert follows Luke Combs' sold-out concerts at Slane Castle on 18 and 19 July. Criminals attempted to exploit demand by posting fake ticket listings on social media, online marketplaces and unauthorised resale sites.

Warning signs to watch for include prices that seem too good to be true; pressure to act immediately or pay at once; requests to take the transaction off an official resale platform; sellers who can only provide screenshots as proof; refusals to use official ticket transfer or resale tools; and adverts or offers shared via social media or unsolicited messages. Allison Ewing, Fraud Manager, Education & Awareness at Bank of Ireland UK, said: "As the busy summer events season continues, with concerts and festivals attracting large crowds, it's important for ticket buyers to stay vigilant. Whether you're looking for tickets for any major event, take the time to verify who you are buying from and only use reputable, trusted ticketing or resale platforms. Taking the time to verify the seller could save disappointment and a financial loss."

The bank advises fans to purchase only through official sellers or verified resale services. If you suspect you've been targeted, contact your bank straight away so they can try to stop the fraud and recover funds where possible.
