Bank Of Ireland Launches Speak Easy Cards In All Branches
Bank of Ireland has rolled out Speak Easy Cards across its branch network to help customers with communication difficulties explain their banking needs more easily and access support independently.
Available in all branches, the easy-to-use cards feature simple images, colours and phrases that customers can point to in order to request services such as checking an account balance, replacing a debit card, getting help with online banking or asking for additional assistance.
More than 300,000 adults in Northern Ireland are living with hearing loss, while almost one in four people report a long-term health problem or disability, underlining the need for accessible, inclusive customer communications.
Launching the roll-out across Bank of Ireland, George Higginson, Managing Director Everyday Banking NI, Bank of Ireland UK said: "For many people, asking to check a balance, replace a card or request support is straightforward, however for some customers, communicating those needs can be difficult and, at times, overwhelming. "Speak Easy Cards provide a simple but effective way for customers to tell us what they need, helping remove barriers and enabling more confident and independent banking.
"The introduction of Speak Easy Cards is another step in our wider commitment to accessibility and financial inclusion, ensuring every customer feels understood, supported and able to access the services they need."
The initiative adds to a broad range of accessibility supports already offered by the Bank, including hearing loops in every branch, SignVideo services for customers who use sign language, participation in the JAM Card and Hidden Disabilities Sunflower schemes, and alternative communication formats such as Braille, large print and audio documents.
Customers can access the full range of Speak Easy Cards in-branch, or download them from Bank of Ireland's Extra Help Centre, which provides dedicated guidance and support for customers, carers and families. Further information on accessibility supports is available at: www.bankofirelanduk.com/help-and-support/extra-help-centre/
