£3.5m Watermain Project Starts On Windyhill Road, Coleraine

NI Water has begun work on a new watermain along Windyhill Road in Coleraine to bolster the resilience of the local drinking water network and improve service for customers in Coleraine and the surrounding area. The programme is expected to last around 10 months.

A lane closure is currently operating on Windyhill Road under a temporary traffic-light system, with two-way traffic maintained to help minimise disruption.

The new main will supply a number of key service reservoirs — Carthall, Scone Hill, Castlerock Downhill, Toberdornan, Ballylagan and Maddeybenny — supporting the continued delivery of quality drinking water.

Anna Delargy, NI Water Project Manager, said: "This major £3.5m NI Water investment will install a new section of watermain, which will help improve the security of the water supply for our customers, as well as enhancing drinking water quality.

"This new watermain will reduce the number of bursts and provide a more robust water infrastructure in the area. It will also be particularly important in a high demand or emergency situation to keep the water supply flowing in the area.

"NI Water and our project team from McAdam and Glanua Farrans JV thank the public for their patience and cooperation while this essential work is carried out."
