Armagh-based Allied Group has announced the Beyond Borders Summit, a new conference aimed at helping companies navigate shifting trade rules, unlock international growth and make the most of Northern Ireland’s distinctive position straddling the UK and EU markets.

Taking place at ICC Belfast on 1 October 2026, the Summit will gather business leaders, trade experts and senior decision-makers for a full day focused on the outlook for trade across Northern Ireland, Great Britain, Ireland and the wider EU.

Allied Group said the initiative responds to an increasingly complicated trading landscape. Since Brexit, firms have had to contend with wide-ranging changes in customs processes, supply chains, regulatory compliance and cross-border operations. In parallel, Northern Ireland’s access to both the UK internal market and the EU single market for goods has created new opportunities for growth.

Further regulatory reform is also coming into view. The introduction of the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), alongside prospective changes to carbon-related trade costs and reporting, means importers of carbon-intensive products such as steel, aluminium, cement and fertilisers must get to grips with their compliance duties and potential financial exposure.

Allied Group said the Summit is designed to go beyond explaining rules and help firms translate policy into competitive advantage, particularly by leveraging Northern Ireland’s dual market access in practical, commercial ways. Speakers will cover entering new UK, Irish and EU markets, securing funding for expansion, maximising dual market access, meeting customs obligations and preparing for CBAM and other emerging carbon costs. The programme will emphasise actionable guidance so attendees can understand what these changes mean for their own operations.
