Call For Applications To Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme
The Commissioner for Victims and Survivors, Joe McVey, has noted an update from the Victims' Payments Board on 11 August confirming that the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme (TPDPS) will close to new applications on 30 August 2026.
The Commission had previously provided advice and evidence to the former Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, the Rt Hon Hilary Benn MP, on whether the application window should be extended.
The Victims' Payments Board has also advised potential applicants not to wait while gathering additional supporting information. People should submit the material they currently have, with any further documentation to be sought if required.
Commissioner Joe McVey said: "With the deadline fast approaching, my message to anyone who thinks they may be eligible and has not yet applied is simple: please don't delay.
"Don't be put off if you don't have all of the supporting information or evidence available. I would encourage you to consider making an application before the Scheme closes to new applications on 30 August."

Planning Applications Continue To Fall
The overall number of planning applications submitted in Northern Ireland continues to fall, as a new report shows a 7% decrease in the first quarter of 2013/14, compared to the same period last year. The total number has fallen from from 3,233 to 2,997.

Bryson Chief Raises Concerns Over Capacity Of Fuel Scheme
The Chief Executive of Bryson Charitable Group has said that is has been "impossible" to keep up with demand for the Executive's emergency fuel payment scheme. The scheme launched last week and head of the charity running the scheme, Shane Logan, has said that the number of people applying and "exceeded the number it can help".

COVID Certification Applications Now Open From 04-10 August
Those travelling between 04 – 10 August are now being invited to apply to the Northern Ireland COVID Certification Service. Some applications will be processed manually and applicants will be contacted via email on what to do as they progress.

Stormont Environment Minister Sammy Wilson has announced provisions aimed at tackling the backlog in the province's planning service. Mr Wilson said a streamlined scheme could be rolled out across all council areas by next Spring.
