Game Academy Connects Gamers With Employers
Game Academy, an impact venture, helps video game players convert the abilities they develop in games into real-world careers. Many gamers demonstrate strong technical aptitude but have limited ways to showcase it outside gaming, and the organisation exists to close that gap.
It is currently supporting a cohort in Northern Ireland — care-experienced and high-performing in-game — and is seeking to introduce them, free of charge to employers, to businesses willing to provide employment, work placements, job shadowing or other career-building opportunities.

Cross-Border Day Of Action Targets Rogue Traders In Armagh, Banbridge And Craigavon
Police in Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon mounted a co-ordinated Day of Action on Wednesday 19 August targeting cold callers and rogue traders, running 15 checkpoints, seizing a suspected rogue trading lorry and reporting a man to the Public Prosecution Service, while urging residents to stay vigilant.

Givan Hails Northern Ireland Pupils For Strong GCSE Results
Education Minister Paul Givan has congratulated students across Northern Ireland after this year's GCSE outcomes were released. In total, over 32,000 young people received results, with 83.6% achieving grade C/4 and above (compared with 83.5% in 2025) and 31.7% attaining grade A/7 and higher (31.6% in 2025).

Belfast City Airport and Translink have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on developing and appraising ways to improve links between the public transport network and the airport. The work will focus on enhancing the user experience as well as improving safety and accessibility for passengers using both services.

Man Dies In L'Derry Flat Fire
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has confirmed that a man in his sixties has died after a fire at a flat in the Galliagh area of L'Derry. The blaze in Bloomfield Park was reported at 3.42pm on Wednesday 19 August, and all three emergency services attended the scene. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to establish the cause of death.
