Ballycastle August Tennis Tournaments Attract Over 400 Competitors
More than 400 players competed in Ballycastle's Junior and Senior August Tennis Tournaments, playing over 600 matches across a fortnight at the Alex McFarland Tennis Courts, with entrants travelling from across the UK.
Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and overseen by referee Sean Moloney, the twin events brought a vibrant buzz to the town as the popular annual fixture returned.
As well as providing valuable competitive experience and supporting player development, the tournaments help draw visitors during the busy summer season, adding to Ballycastle’s lively atmosphere. Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Dawn Huggins, who attended the junior competition, said: "It was fantastic to see the courts so busy and to meet some of the young players taking part in this year’s tournament. With competitors travelling from across the UK, the event is a wonderful showcase for the talent and enthusiasm we have within tennis.
"Events like this bring real energy to Ballycastle and give visitors another great reason to spend time in our area. Congratulations to everyone who took part, and especially to this year’s winners – I hope they’re very proud of their achievements."
