Police Search For Prisoner Gary Anderson After Day-Release No-Show
The Police Service of Northern Ireland has issued an appeal to trace Anderson, who did not come back to custody after being granted day release on Monday. He has not returned to prison or been apprehended.
Anderson is approximately 5ft 11in tall, of slim build, with brown hair. He was sentenced to 15 years for murder in 2023.
Officers have appealed directly to Gary to hand himself in.
Members of the public are advised not to approach him. Anyone who has seen him, or who knows of his whereabouts, is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 555 of 14/09/26.
Alternatively, information can be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100 per cent anonymous.
PSNI advises that images it shares are issued solely to assist in the prevention and detection of crime and must not be used for any other purpose. Any use indicates agreement to these conditions, and the service accepts no responsibility for any unauthorised use.

Newtownabbey Shooting Victim Was Off-Duty Police Officer
The PSNI has confirmed that a man injured in a shooting incident in Newtownabbey on Monday 06 January was an off-duty police officer. The incident occurred in the Beverley Road area at around 9:30 pm. The man, who has not been named, remains in hospital. However his injuries are not said to be life-threatening.

Two police officers sustained injuries and their patrol car was damaged in a collision early Monday morning, 21 October, as they responded to a report of a suspected drink-driver. The incident unfolded around midnight when police received information about a silver Mercedes being driven erratically on Shipquay Street.

A man has been arrested in connection with the attempted murder of an off-duty police officer in Co L'Derry. A viable under-car bomb was discovered outside a house in the Ardanlee area on 22 February last year. Army bomb disposal experts attended the scene. No-one was injured.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.
