Trimble calls for IRA to commit on acts of completion
Ulster Unionist leader David Trimble has said the current talks impasse can only be overcome if the IRA "clearly and publicly lays out their commitments to early completion of decommissioning".
Mr Trimble was speaking on Friday as he unveiled a UUP paper, 'UUP Issues for the Review' which aims to help restore devolution to Stormont.
The Upper Bann MP said: "In the run-up to Leeds Castle, acts of completion had been centre stage, however, since then things have been beginning to the drift to the point where we are talking about mechanics and minutiae again.
"It appears that all current positions taken by parties are tactical and no one appears willing to commit and genuinely engage until this impasse is broken. This can only happen when the Republican movement clearly and publicly lays out their commitments to early completion of decommissioning, the ending of paramilitary activity and the winding up of their organisation."
Meanwhile, the British and Irish Governments said they are considering tabling their own proposals to break the power-sharing deadlock.
It seems the main key sticking points include the election of the first and deputy first ministers, the powers of ministers and north-south arrangements.

The Minister's for Finance and Health have committed to working together to progress the introduction of baby loss certificates for parents who have lost a baby during pregnancy before 24 weeks. Under current legislation, the death of a baby is only officially recognised if it occurs after the 24th week of pregnancy.

Four Die In Fatal Collision In Armagh In Early Hours Of 24 March
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information and witnesses following a fatal collision in Armagh in the early hours of Sunday, 24 March. A driver and three passengers died when the grey Volkswagen Golf they were travelling in crashed on the Ballynahonemore Road at around 2.10am.
