Police Appeal After Incident In East Belfast
Police in Belfast are appealing for witnesses after a crowd blocked Castlereagh Road on Tuesday night, setting off fireworks and riding scramblers dangerously.
The incident was reported at around 8.30pm on Tuesday 29 September, when officers received information that a large group had gathered on Castlereagh Road in east Belfast, obstructing traffic while fireworks were let off and scrambler bikes were driven in a dangerous manner.
Police said: "Officers attended, however the scramblers made off from the area and the crowd dispersed. "We know how the dangerous driving scramblers and other off-road bikes can be, especially given the significant safety issues these vehicles can pose, alongside the nuisance and noise they create."
"These youths put both themselves, along with members of the public at risk of being hurt or worse, due to their manner of driving and the lack of safety equipment worn.
"This is an issue we take seriously and one that we are committed to tackling."
Appealing for information, Sergeant Brown said: "I am appealing to anyone who may have any information in relation to last night's incident or to anyone with CCTV, dash-cam or other footage that could assist with enquiries to contact police on 101 quoting reference 1548 29/09/26."
