Police renew abduction appeal

Detectives in Strabane have renewed an appeal for information after a gang of between six and ten masked and armed men abducted three people from a house in Castlederg on Sunday.

The incident happened at around 8:40pm when the gang forced their way into the house, which is situated in a rural area close to the town.

Once inside the building, the occupants, two men and a woman were hooded before being driven away in a white transit van.

After being held overnight at an unknown location, believed to be in Co Donegal, the woman was taken to Lifford and ordered to drive to her place of work at Railway Street in Strabane, collect the takings and deliver them to a pre-arranged point at Moorlog Church near Lifford.

The two men were later found at Clady having been released at Donnyloup.

Police investigating the incident are anxious to speak to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in Railway Street in Strabane around 7:00am on Monday or who saw a white Transit in the Castlederg/ Border area.

Appeal Issued For Missing Strabane Woman
Police are appealing for information to help trace missing Strabane woman Lesley McHugh. The 69-year-old was last in contract with her family at around 11pm on 06 January. She is described as being approximately 5ft 6inches tall, of slim build with brown hair. Searches are ongoing along the River Mourne into the River Foyle.

Appeal After Masked Men Force Entry Into Home Of Elderly Man
The PSNI have issued an appeal for information after five masked me forced entry into the home of an man aged in his 70s, on the Saintfield Road. Police received a report shortly before 11.30pm on Saturday, 17th February that between 10pm and 10.30pm on the same evening, five masked men entered a house in the Saintfield Road area.
