Assets Recovery Agency freeze £300k worth of property

Northern Ireland’s Assets Recovery Agency has frozen an estimated £300,000 worth of property following a court order.

A range of properties and other assets believed to belong to a gang were frozen after a series of orders were granted by the High Court.

Security Minister and Chair of the Organised Crime Taskforce, Ian Pearson said: “I congratulate the Agency on freezing yet another £300,000 worth of property. I am particularly delighted that the assets frozen were from those who allegedly attempt to prosper by preying on some of the most vulnerable people in our community.

“This action demonstrates how the Agency is getting to grips with all types of criminal activity and it sends out a clear message to the criminals that there is no hiding place.

“I congratulate Jane Earl, Director, Alan McQuillan Assistant Director, and all the staff of the Belfast Office for their continuing contribution to disrupting criminal networks and hitting them where it hurts, in their pockets.”

Meanwhile, £30,000 worth of DVD's CD's and copying equipment have been seized during a search of a house in Main Street, Eglinton.
